Effective Dosage: There is currently no clinical evidence that Chromium chelavite is effective as a weight loss supplement at any dosage.
Chromium Chelavite, which is a patented form of Chromium developed by Albion Labratories, contains one chromium bound to two units of nicotinic acid, and an amino acid. Research with Chromium chelavite, also referred to as chromium amino acid niacin chelate, has shown that this form of chromium is highly absorbable and biologically active. In comparative studies based on typical absorption rates, it was estimated that the total chromium absorbed from Chromium Chelavite® was as much as 50% greater than other forms of chromium.
Chromium is thought to play a role in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, potentially influencing weight and body composition. However, data on healthy persons without diabetes do not support this theory, and data on patients with diabetes are inconclusive.
