How to Feel Less Bloated

3 Things You Can Do Today to Feel Less Bloated

May 25, 2017adminWeight Loss StudiesNo comments

Feeling bloated can really hold you back from enjoying life, feeling confident, and wearing the clothes that you want to wear. Thankfully, there are some easy steps that you can take to feel less bloated, and three of those steps are listed below so that you can start feeling like yourself again in no time.

Eat More Slowly

If you want to feel less bloated, take a moment to see how fast you are eating. If you eat too fast and you do not properly chew your food, you could be ingesting too much air, and that will lead to unwanted bloating. So really take your time whenever you have to eat. Enjoy the food, savor the flavors, and make your meal last a minimum of 30 minutes. Remember, digestion starts in your mouth, so chewing better will help reduce bloating.

Avoid Carbonated Drinks and Gum

In addition to eating slowly, you can also feel less bloated by avoiding carbonated drinks that could cause gas to become trapped within your tummy. Besides, all those sugary carbonated sodas aren’t good for your health anyway. Stick with pure water, or go for naturally flavored water instead. And if you want to drink something that can help you feel less bloated, you can have peppermint tea.

Chewing gum could also cause you to inhale too much air into your stomach, resulting in bloating. Stick with mints or hard candies instead, or have a healthy snack that’s high in fiber.

Avoid Foods That Are High in Sodium

A third way to feel less bloated is by sticking with foods that are low in sodium. High sodium foods, especially those that are also low in fiber, could contribute to bloating. If you are purchasing prepared foods at the grocery store, check the label for sodium content, and when preparing meals at home, go light on the salt. Aim to get 500 mg or less of sodium per serving, which amounts to roughly 1,500 mg of salt per day.

If you are feeling bloated all the time, try the tips above, as they could help reduce the bloating and the discomfort. You can even try taking probiotics and eating foods that are higher in fiber in order to support your entire digestive tract. But if you try the tips above and the problem persists, talk to your doctor to get to the cause of it.
